Given that we are indeed East Coast airsoft, it is fitting to blog about Hurricane Sandy, the upcoming Superstorm about to ravage this fine coast. I personally have never heard the term Superstorm used, which is surprising because it seems like a word which would be a word thrown around absentmindedly, but I have no recollection of any other application. This fact demonstrates that this storm is nothing to be taken lightly, and could cause true damage along the Coast, from the Carolinas to Massachusetts.
This Hurricane is being designated a Superstorm because it is supposed to consist of an “arctic jetstream” (exact phrase I heard) wrapping around the Hurricane. This will give the power of Ice to an already monstrous Hurricane, and this is where the real damage will stem from. The question is, what can you do to stay safe from this? Since you’ve likely been bombarded with tips already, and for your whole life, you probably already know the basics. Flashlights, candles, toiletries, non-perishable foods, plenty of clean water, and clean clothes. If things get really bad, make sure to get to a basement or somewhere where you are safe from trees falling on your house or windows blowing in. It may seem a little extreme, but there is no telling what could come from such a Superstorm.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve never heard of two (or more!) storms coming together and fusing into a Superstorm. Interesting that such a thing would happen at the end of 2012, when so many predictions have been made about the end of the world. I doubt that this will lead to such global catastrophe, especially since this incident is concentrated in the East Coast, but it could signal worse things to come. Hopefully humanity will get its plans together to avert more of these problems, because if we don’t, then all of us are doomed. Luckily I’m an optimist and I know that we will be able to overcome the dire predictions, but until then, we’re going to have to deal with a lot of bad stuff.
